Description. The purpose of this Fund is to support a graduate student fellowship within the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry (BMC). The fellowship will be awarded on an annual basis to a dissertator PhD student who is obtaining a PhD in the lab of a Department faculty member (including faculty with a partial appointment, but not faculty with an affiliate appointment).
The award ($23,000) will start July 1, 2024 and end June 30, 2025. $3,000 will be awarded directly to the student to defray educational expenses. We presume this transaction will be similar to how we disperse welcome week checks. $20,000 will be used to defray the cost of stipend, tuition remission and fringe benefits for the student for one year. The PI is responsible for the rest of the balance of stipend, tuition remission and fringe benefits, which should follow the guidance of the graduate program to which the student belongs.
