Leave Reporting Guide

Even with leave approved after submitting a request through the form on this site, leave reports must be submitted through MyUW. This should be done monthly by the 5th of the following month (e.g. July’s report is due August 5). Reports should be approved by the 10th of each month.

To complete your monthly leave report, go to my.wisc.edu and log into My UW. You will then select the “Time and Absence” tile and then “Enter Absence.”

A couple points to keep in mind:

  1. If the absence is for more than one day during the same week, i.e. Monday through Friday, enter a date range. Do not indicate a date range that includes weekend dates unless the weekend dates are part of the regularly scheduled workdays.
  2. If no leave is taken, you must still submit a report. In this case, submit a “No Leave Taken” report with a start and end date of the 1st of the month.

If absence request includes days from two different weeks/months – July 30 to August 10, 2018, employee needs to enter three separate absence requests – one for each week/month.

  • July 30 to 31
  • August 1 to 3
  • August 6 to 10


If absence request is for August 23 and 24, and the employee wants to use two different types of leave such as vacation and personal holiday, the employee will need to enter TWO separate absence requests – one for each type leave.  If leave crosses weekends, then employee would need to submit separate requests for the following week as well.

  • Vacation – August 23
  • Personal Holiday – August 24
